Day 11. Rolling with Diigo!

So far so good with the Diigo bookmarking: I finished Elsie Clews Parsons' Sea Islands book (almost 200 stories, often with multiple versions), and now I've started in on her Elizabeth City book. And in just a few days, I can start reading and summarizing the stories, looking for all the Brer Rabbit I can find!

She was born in 1875; here's a picture from Wikipedia:

She saw anthropology as a force for social change, especially women's rights. She published some of her feminist works under a pseudonym to protect her husband's political career. She enrolled at Barnard in 1892 (it had been founded in 1889). She was able to use her family's wealth to finance her anthropological fieldwork.
