Day 27. More Illustrations

I did a lot of image harvesting over the winter break when I started this project, but there are still more images to collect, and I am really excited about the images I will be able to grab from Uncle Remus and the Little Boy which is the book I am working on right now, cleaning up the OCR since there was not a good digitized text already online. This book is especially useful since in addition to some new stories, it also has some stories which Harris put into verse (not a great idea, and one of the weirder aspects of his storytelling project), and those stories come with illustrations too! They are by Conde, whose work I know from Aesop illustration projects I've worked on in the past, and there are even some color illustrations. So, for example, Brer Rabbit Raising the Dust is in the very first Harris book, and it also shows up here in verse form, with this illustration:

If all goes well, I will be able to harvest those images this weekend! :-)
