Day 38: 4000 stories bookmarked

Today I crossed into 4000 stories bookmarked. It's been so cool to see how this project naturally builds on all the work I had been doing at the Freebookapalooza, making sure that I had story-by-story tables of contents for the books that contain stories. That's been the key to using Diigo effectively, quickly paging through the books, with the story titles ready to bookmark.

Admittedly, I'm constrained by the degree to which the titles of the stories are useful (or not), but now that the stories are in Diigo, it's easy to start augmenting the titles with story summaries and/or tags that give me the ability to search and sort. Plus, lots of the story titles are already good indicators of characters who can be found there. So, for example, #tales rabbit give me 315 stories. Then I can search for #tales (rabbit OR hare) gives me 356. And of those, 193 have story summaries. And that's just at the beginning of June! I've still got a solid six weeks of summer yet to go. So many rabbits to come!

I'm also really enjoying the various stories in Harris that connect up with all the work I did on chain tales last summer. Today, for example, was the story of Brer Rabbit as Henny-Penny, but instead of being truly afraid, like Henny-Penny, Brer Rabbit was just tricking the other animals... and they eventually realize, with some help from Turtle, that the whole chain of foolishness led back to Brer Rabbit. What a great twist on the old story! :-)
