Day 23. My Library Shelves

Today I finished listing all the physical books in my study with their tables of contents, and now when books come in I will be able to add them directly to the blog, helping me to do a better job of keeping track of them!

A large number of these books are library discards, which always makes me a little sad. These are such beautiful books, but I guess the libraries decided that they were not circulating, and so they got culled. Anyway, I am glad to give them a new home. So many of these books cost me just a few dollars, including shipping. It's a great example of how the digital world (all those used booksellers online, especially consolidated at AbeBooks) made it possible for me to rescue all these physical books, giving them a home on my three bookshelves full of African and African American stories.

Someday I need to do the same for my other collections of books, especially all the India books which I possess in abundance and which are in a state of real chaos at the moment. I had 3 shelves of books to work on here, and I would guess twice as many or even more for India. Well, someday...!
