Day 83. Diigo clean-up / back-up

Since I ran into some trouble with the HAX site (no way to organize / navigate the site contents), I've pulled back to Google Docs being the end point of the curation process so far. I'm not especially happy with Google Docs as a solution, but it's good enough for the year to come, and then next summer I'll revisit the whole set-up to see how things look. I'm hoping there will be a good HAX option, but if not, I will probably set up a Media Wiki and go with that. In the meantime, though, GoogleDocs gives me a place to edit and annotation, linked from Diigo, so that works!

There are now 182 stories that I've set up as documents, and I'll have 200 when summer ends in just a few days. I will definitely keep adding stories during the school year too; I'm not quite sure how that will work because it really depends on what direction the research takes. I might or might not set a quota for the documents, although I have pondered the quotes for Diigo bookmarks and Diigo summaries, and it looks pretty do-able to carry on so that I'll have 20,000 bookmarks by the time next summer starts, and 2000 stories. In other words: I can do during the school year pretty much what I've done this summer. I'm not 100% sure that will work out, but it's a good goal to aim for, and I like the idea of having something like that in place as I started.

So, just as there was the spreadsheet that ruled my life this summer, I've got at least a start on the spreadsheet that will rule my life this coming year. I am so sorry to see summer coming to an end, but I've got lots of good momentum to get the new year started, so I am hoping for good things. Giving myself total time off for the trips to Austin is a key part of how this works, and I don't have all those Austin dates obviously... but I put in tentative dates, tempting fate. Anyway, I'm hoping good things from the 243 days of the school year, just as I so much enjoyed these 73 wonderful days of summer.
