Day 73. Slave Voyages

By coincidence I started working through the West African Anansi stories for the first items to add to my HAX site, and then on Twitter Samuel Jackson shared this graphic by Andrew Kahn at Slate, using data from SlaveVoyages.org (their website has a whole maps section at the site and other representations of the traffic and timeline, like this chronological visualization). By putting the time and space data together, Kahn has created something really powerful; you can watch it at Slate, and use the pause button at any time to stop and click on the individual ships to learn more:
